Hello World – Human Computer Interactions Blog site

For a long time I have been debating about starting a Blog page. Over the next few months I’ll be conducting additional research. The following types of topics will be my main focus: Augmented Reality, Chicago – UX/IA organizations, and conceptual ideas.

The FIRST, topic I would like to highlight is Project Red Bird. In 2009, the team came together to conduct an Independent Project at DePaul University. The following is the description of the project. The children’s DVD-Based library project is intended to give children in undeserved educational environments the opportunity to learn to read books, improve their overall language skills, and learn about other cultures by accessing library reading materials via a DVD player. The research team is investigating how to facilitate these activities, focusing on the navigation and visual design of the DVD interface. The research team is focused on developing the resources in English only and conduct two iteration of testing related to specific interactions with the DVD menu.

The team has received approval to conduct the usability study. The current steps involve working with children to collaborate on design evaluations and to see if current research guidelines can be applied across cultures.

Our current project is expanding research by Dr. Allison Druin a pioneer in HCI studies. Our goal is to complete our study and present our findings to the HCI community and further expand our focus of HCI in digital media.
